Game Review - Mech Assault (XBox)

I got this game with my XBox live Subscription, so I wasn't expecting a lot. I was pleasantly surprised. While it lacks the customization of other mech games it does allow for the destruction of the environment. Instead of fighting in arenas for credits the campaign features a combat role for the mech driver as a mercenary soldier fighting some fanatics.

Shooting buildings and stomping infantry are fun, but fighting other mechs is the heart of the game. You can't forget about the tanks or they will wipe you out before you know it.

The commentary from the female voice is a little over the top for a kids game, a little suggestive, but not vulgar. If you are squeamish about voices in the game offering to buy a round of drinks once you save the world or female voices suggesting she wants you to survive so you can have a repeat of last night, then you shouldn't be playing a game where you stomp individuals and destroy buildings.

I am giving this an 8 out of 10. It would be a 9 if the campaign was longer or if there were additional campaign elements. There are downloads from xbox live, but they are only for multiplayer usage and for on-line play.

This game won't sit on the shelf collecting dust since I can go into the arena and kill total strangers all over the US. This will be fun.
