Tivo To Go - Upon Further Review
Well I have used the tivo to go features for a couple of months now... It does what it promises. You can transfer a program from your tivo to a pc with massive amounts of DRM. You can watch the program on your PC and then delete it.
What can't you do? Edit, save in a reasonable format, burn to a DVD without buying their software.
Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? Not really. The transfers via 802.11B are horribly slow. Why not use G? Well the tivo does not have driver for the standard linksys usb wireless G adapter. Why not run a cable? I don't want to fish cables though the walls of my house to watch a tv program on my PC.
One weird thing... since the software update of the tivos in my house to support tivo to go, there have been very serious network connectivity problems. The machines regularly can't find the network adapters and have to be rebooted to get them to work again. What is the problem with that? Well I use my home network to update their programming and I may go days without checking my tivo for up to date programming information.
Bottom line, it is better than nothing but not by much.
