Sirius - Has some Serious Problems

Well, the programming is terrific. I loved the way they did the music programming. I admit, I like the "Real Radio" DJs and occasional banter. Without commercials that is a nice break from one song after another. If I want to just hear one song after another that I like I will just plug in my ipod and hit shuffle.

So what kind of problems do they have? Reception. Since I am a commuter and I travel in an out of the city of Atlanta I would like to be able to hear the service I am paying for when I get inside the perimeter. If you don't know where there is it is okay. The city of Atlanta has a circular bypass around it called 285. Once inside past a certain point, with a nice clear north western sky there is no satellite reception. The terrestrial repeater is there, but with no signal to speak of.

I repeated this for more than a week seeing that something is obviously wrong. I posted on a Sirius forum and contacted Sirius themselves. Others in the forums confirmed the problem. Since they are long haul truckers they can live with the minor annoyance of no reception inside the city, but since I work there it is too much.

Needless to say Sirius never responded to me.

I returned the receiver and called to cancel my account. Guess what? Can't cancel the account after 10PM. Those people go home. I can only activate an account. What kind of moron do you think I am? All customer service reps should be able to do the same thing. Since Sirius doesn't want you to be able to cancel via the web, they should have representatives available 24 hours a day. Heck, you can cancel your MMORPG account at 2 in the morning, why not your satellite radio account?

Back to XM only for me. Maybe I will give them another try when I see it working all over the city. It will take a lot for that.

kudos to Frys for taking back all the JVC Sirius stuff even with the self-destructing packaging. I don't mind the store credit on the receiver. It isn't like I won't spend the money there.
