Chain Saws
Okay, The few posts here have been about Movies, books, games, and computer hardware. I have neglected a recent purchase that has brought me hours of delight. My $99 Homelight 14" chainsaw. It is easy starting and has the instructions to start it written on it's below it's handle. That alone makes it a great buy.
What you may ask is a Computer Scientist doing with a chainsaw? Trees fall my friends. They have to be turned into small parts and then eliminated. A good chainsaw will aid in this task. Thanks to the recent hurricanes I have had the excuse to use it.
I do recommend one thing however... if you go to buy one, grab the guy in the store and make him tell you what you need. I had to go back to buy bar and chain oil. I had the engine oil for mixing with the gas, but I missed the critical bar and chain oil. That was a second trip. Also, buy the right sharpener. You have to read those instructions to determine the size. If you have big project... Like a friend with a field full of trees, buy a spare chain or two...
I give the $99 Homelite Dealy at Home Depot a whopping 9 out of 10. It would have gotten a 10 out of 10 if it were able to start on the first try. It take a few pulls, it isn't a Honda motor. But once you get it started... You are good to go for hours of tree felling fun.
