Game Review - GT4 - PS2

I have to say that this is flat out the best driving game I have ever played. How is that for a review? If you like driving games you will have to have this in your collection.

So what makes it different from GT3?

From what I can tell, the graphics are greatly improved. The number of cars available, and of course what is important to me, you can race the Toyota Prius. Who doesn't want to race a hybrid?

I have to take time to explore all of the shops, but it is the same as GT3, in that you start out with a little money and have to "earn" you way to the top. I would have liked to be able to start out with a decent racing car, but that is part of the "RPG" like charm of this game. The cars are your characters and you get to build their skills and tweak them for each situation.

The arcade mode is a nice for those who just want to jump in a viper and start racing. I think that will satisfy the roommates or significant others of the hard core car RPG player.

I have to give this one a 9 out of 10. Why not a 10, there is room for improvement. They need to add a mode for the cars to take damage. I know it is the car manufacturers who object to this, but it is a short coming of the game. It may be the most realistic driving simulator, but without car damage, it is just a game.
