Dell 720 Photo Printer - Free but missing something.
Two weeks ago I had two friends who needed new computers. Given the good deals I said why not go with the Dell. I use them at work, the computers are of reasonable quality for the cost, and the deals were good. Both are very happy with what they have purchased.
So what could possibly be wrong? They came with a free printer. The Dell 720 photo printer. Well the printer is free, but guess what is missing? No, ink cartridges would be too easy. Since you have to order them from Dell they included cartridges.
The USB cable is not included. Now that is not uncommon these days with printers being free and the cables costing upwards of $20, but to not even mention that it was needed on the web order page goes contrary to that whole customer service thing.
Luckily my friends had a nerd on call to do the installs. I noticed the problem and acquired that cables necessary. Imagine if this had been someone with no computer experience. They would have had to wander into Walmart to buy a USB cable. Of course that would have been after a call to Dell customer support in Bangalor. Or worse they would have annoyed the nerd that they know and taken them away from World of Warcraft or even City of Heros. No one wants that.
Dell, if you are going to sell an incomplete product at least warn the customer about it. Heck, you will probably be able to get another $20 out of the customer if you tell them the cable is not included.
