World of Warcraft Reviews are over
I have stopped the renewal on my WoW accounts and disbanded my guild. Why would I do something like that? The reasons are many and varied, but they come down to these major points:
1) I don't have time.
2) There is no more solo content.
3) I am tired of dealing with nerd egos.
Point 1 which is really the reason for 2 and 3, it takes a lot of time to play this game. Myself and my son do not have that free time to give. I have real money to earn, books to read and blog posts to write. Not to mention television.
Point 2 is pretty straight forward. The announcements of future content release show that they are making another 40 person raid instance and another battleground. No additional content for solo players like me. When the game was first released Blizzard bragged that they were geared to solo players as well as big raiding guilds. Today they have forgotten that solo players exist.
Point 3 goes directly to being in a guild. With the demise of my original guild when all of the level 60 players followed 1 player to another guild I realized I was dealing with nerd egos. No matter what was said it was going to go badly. If I took the time to rebuild my guild from scratch I was still going to be facing the same problem in the future. These are nerds and as such all have huge egos that must be cared for constantly. This one is not Blizzard's fault in the least and is just the final straw that broke this camel's back.
Would I recommend WoW for people who want an MMORPG? The answer is an emphatic yes. WoW is the best of the breed. The only people who could top this would be Blizzard and World of Starcraft. Will I try it again? Probably not, but that is because I just don't have the time to give.
